Type of a scam Credit Cards

I received a letter stating that I had requested information about my account. The letter stated that Capital One would like to help me, but needed my account number to do so. I do not remember calling Capital One. This seemed to be fraud to me and would like to report it.

At the top of the letter, it says Re:xxxxxxxxxxxx9999

Second time I filed a dispute which has since been resolved

Then bogus letter arrives asking for acct info , ss number, etc stating Cap one cannot

find me in the system.
