Type of a scam Phishing
Letter States I have same last name of deceased client. There’s $20.7M in his account, but they need someone with the same last name. They will back date documents to show I am the beneficiary and will give me 40% when it all gets approved. But, this is a rare opportunity and I’m supposed to, for security reasons, not talk to anyone about this and honor his trust by keeping this just between us. His name is Fa Lin and he works at the Private Wealth Management at the China Merchants Bank.
Victim Location 83646
Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency
We received a letter from China Merchant Bank notifying us that a client of theirs had died. He left a large sum of money in a financial portfolio that was supposed to liquidated. Apparently he did not contact the bank after a 30 day waiting period so this loan officer decided to contact us because we have the same last name as the client. We could possibly receive 40% of the total amount (53.7 million dollars).
We know this is a hoax and will not be contacting the "loan officer".
